Nothing like good wood.

#3 bought an M1A from work when they moved from this platform to a AR 308 platform.
He wanted to make it look like the M14 I carried in the Marines so I sent away for a GI issued walnut surplus stock.
What came in the mail would make some people send it back, but when you look at old GI wood you know it's solid walnut all the way through.
A good cleaning, some basic sanding, and hand rubbed oil you can usually make ugly wood look pretty good again.

I won a contest in college ROTC once. I disassembled and reassembled (field stripped) one'a those quicker than anyone else in the company ... BLINDFOLDED. (true story)

Nice job Bubba ... that came out nice and I agree ... I like the "character" also.
