Kind of a neat thrift store find.

While Lynn and I were in Pensacola last week, we stopped at a few thrift stores and I loaded up with some nice eBay items. I thought this was cool ... nothing earth shattering, but they sell for $75 and I picked this one up for $1. There is some film on it but I have no clue what it is. Anyway, this is a large, commercial 1000-foot split-reel which should be an easy sell! I know, it's not all that exciting, I just thought it was cool and I can make a buck or two with it. As an added bonus, with the film on there, I can ship it via "Media Mail" which is dirt cheap and adds to the profit margin. :D

Neat.. Amazing isn't it?.. Before internet/e-bay a guy could have a truck-load of such stuff and have to sell it for scrap.

There is a downside though ... many things that were once considered rare and brought top dollar from collectors, all of a sudden became super plentiful with the advent of the internet (and especially eBay) and their prices plummeted. It's a whole new ballgame now in some collector fields. You just have to find the right niche.

I unwound about 2-feet of film and held it up to a light, but it was just the blank leader at the beginning. I didn't feel like rolling a ton of film out to see. I'm just selling it as a "grab bag". Maybe somebody's curiosity will get to them and help them decide to buy it. I'm selling the reel, the film is a surprise bonus. ;)

Well, I threw it up on The Bay for $50 and it sold in a couple of hours! Maybe I under-priced it. No biggie, I can live with that profit margin. :D
