Yep heard about it but did not know it was this far along. You know Bass Pro also owns Browning... They have acquired some MAJOR players in the outdoor world over the years.

Ole Johnny Morris better get ready to pony-up....Cabelas had nearly $4 billion in sales, last year....and, has total assets of nearly $8 billion....that's billion with a "B".

However, I bet ole Johnny has that much cash stashed in his tackle box.....if not, I'm sure Cap will float him a loan. ;)

The only real competition here is a place called Academy. Don't know if they're everywhere or not. Better prices than the others too. And we have one in Owasso!

BPS has turned into a Walmart type sporting goods store. Quality is fine. Finding someone that knows squat is hard......Cappy should be VP in a week or so. My buddy tried to buy a depthfinder and TM two times and they knew less than I did (hard to do!).

Cabela's is clothes. They have neat stuff, and I've sent Dick a ton of money over the years. But when they moved to NW Arkansas, I now have to pay shipping AND sales tax, and they're just too high to start with. However, I use their Credit Card (best service from any credit card company I ever had) and spend my 'points dollars' on this and that every so often. I've stopped at their stores in our travels, and been disappointed.......the brick stores carry about 1/2 of what's in the catalog.

Academy Sports, if you don't want clothes, is the cheapest around. Best gun selection, ammo, stuff in general. Fishing, hunting, boots, you name it.......just not too many coats and pants.

Gander has it all here, huge fishing department. They have a gunsmith. They USED to have ALL their guns outside the counter......and you could handle them! They changed that, and I don't go there much. A bit too high.

Dick's has nothing, overpriced, and caved in on every gun nut demand that's come down the pike. They are awful.

Best place here are two local places........Ft. Thompson and Mack's Prairie Wings.
