Its time for another work trip. This time I'm off to Cape Town. I'll be there for a week. Anyone ever been, any must see that I need to put on the list? I'm actually excited for this one. Last year the Asia trips started to drag because I've been there a lot, but I have never been to Africa so I'm excited and will take all advise!

I imagine this is finally a time when its appropriate to wear that cape you've been hiding in your closet.

I was headed for Ethiopia in the early 70's (we had an Intel unit there) and just before I was to go, they had a big uprising (coup maybe?). We abandoned the Embassy and I never made it there. That's the closest I ever got to Africa. Man I envy you. I'd love to be able to travel like that.

I've been to South Africa. All I can say is just enjoy it and use your common sense and street smarts so to speak. Not a place to totally let your guard down, but a good place to enjoy another culture.

Thanks BigSky. Thump i would give up all of my trips for one of yours. Business travel is not vacation travel, I usually dont get to see much and certainly dont get to immerse my self in the culture.

now you've done it. 'immersing himself in culture' has a whole different meaning to thumper.

Hombre, I know what you mean. When I worked in Beverly Hills, I did a lot of business travel. It pretty much sucked. All I ever got to say was "been there" ... but couldn't say much "done that". As much as I love traveling, business travel got to be a bit of a drag for the most part.
