That's persactly what I thought. I saw the title and was worried his levels were elevated or sumpin'. I guess it only has that meaning for old farts. ;)

Nice shootin', Arty....and, you didn't mess up much meat, either.

Is that hunt shotgun only? yep

Unless you draw the bow only.

I used to use those German slugs by Brenneke back in the day that we hunted with them. I've never shot anything else so I have nothing to compare them to. I'd imagine with higher pressures and such and better barrels that modern slugs are a hell of a lot different than when I hunted with them.
Do you have a rifled slug barrel?

I had a rifled slug barrel on my 870 and shot both regular slugs as well as sabots. In 25+ years of hunting with slugs, I never really needed the extra expense of the sabots. Heck, I only used one box of 3" slugs even and 99% of the time shot only whatever was on sale at Wally World (usually 2 3/4" Remington or Federals). I could never really tell the difference. I prolly still have about a hunnert rounds of slugs here someplace.

Yep rifled barrel.
I've not done it but they say these are good to 200 yards

That doe was about 110 yards. Clean pass through.
Exit same size as entrance.

That'd be a helluva shot with the sabot slugs we used to use. Prolly could hit a truck door at 100 yards if the wind was right.

That's an exaggeration but I've missed more deer than I've hit at 75 yards+ I'd say. Also I had an old 'slug scope' which was more like a peep sight than anything.

I'll trade you some hot sauce for some jerky! I'll probably be bottling here around the first of the year.
