My Ex-wife is a good friend of mine, as well as a fantastic mother to my girls. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is heading to the hospital for a double mastectomy today. After that, radiation and chemo as if the surgery wasn't rough enough.

It's a real tough time for her and my daughters as well. I can't imagine what it all looks like to 18 and 20 year old daughters.

Your prayers and thoughts would be appreciated! There's no downside to lots of positive energy being sent their way.

Thank you, my friends.

Keep us posted and we will be praying.
That's a rough road.

Oh man, I hate hearing this. I have my own way of "praying" and as far as I know, it's just as strong as anybody else's. I wish her and the rest of the family the best.

You've got it buddy. I'll add gracious hostess to a bunch of internet psychopaths to the list as well. Not that you need something else to worry about, but you may want to have the girls screened for the gene that predisposes them to breast cancer and make sure they're on top of things going forward.

Already screened and cleared for said gene. Thankfully we don't have that problem.

I forgot about the hostess part, good times. I'll let her know that group is wishing her well :)

Surgery went well according to the Doc. She also had her new boobs installed at the same time so that's one less painful surgery for her :)

The girls were definitely rattled by seeing her after the surgery but she was pretty goofy on pain meds so all in all it was ok.

It's stunning to me that she's going to be sent home today. WTF?

That's the health insurance thing at work ... fix 'em and ship 'em. A day in the hospital for "observation" costs money!

Glad all went well and hope there are no snags along the way. She still has a lot of work ahead of her. That chemo/radiation gig is no walk in the park. Good luck to all.

Thanks for the update. Will keep sending up prayers. The road is long in that recovery and follow up treatments.

Im glad she is did good in the surgery. She will be in our prayers..

I have quite a few LEO's in my family but a heck lot more workign in the health industry and they all agree a hospitals is the worst place to be and as soon as you are capable you should be out... After all, that is where all the peep with all the bad bugs are.....
