I have a couple questions for you east coasters folks. I am going to a conference in April of 2016 @ the Gaylord National in DC and would like to meet up for dinner if possible is that close to any of you? My other questions is my uncle has moved from Fredericksburg to Mt Holly and his house is on Nomini Creek. I am going to spend a few days visiting him after the conference and he has a dock. He has never been much of an outdoorsman and I would like to do some fishing but from what he says the water is fairly salty. It looks like he is fairly close to where the Potomac flows into the Chesapeake Bay. I have never fished in salt water so I am wondering what I am fishing for and how to go about it.

The Gaylord is fairly close to me and I'd love to hook up! It's a little further for the Ashburn crowd like maybe an hour depending on traffic. (Lots of cool stuff there including a casino I believe.)

Based on how you described it, the water at your Uncle's is brackish. The tidal Potomac actually has some excellent bass fishing. But, that close to the Bay probably not. In the spring, it's mostly fishing the various spring spawns which is pretty much playing the tides. I like the last hour of the rising tide and a couple hours after high tide. Depending on when in April and how cold the spring is, it could be anything from yellow and white perch, shad, herring or rockfish (stripers). As you get closer and I have more time, we can talk techniques. Egghead is probably the best guy for advice on methods.

Cool thanks for the advice, I could also take a train if that makes it easier for us all to meet.
