I saw a 14 pt. buck that I have never laid eyes on, until last Friday at dark thirty....I put the spotting scope on him at 200 yards, and he's got 6 pts. on each side, a 3 inch sticker on the left antler base, and I swear he's got about a 6 inch unicorn antler, coming outta either the center of his skull, or off the right antler base....I just could not tell for sure, but it sticks straight out, nearly between his eyes.
I coulda killed him easily at that 200 yard distance, but my cell phone rang about that time....it was grandson, and he was coming to hunt, the next day, and wanting to know if I was seeing anything worth shooting....I couldn't lie to him, and told him about the buck I was looking at, that very moment.
He begged me to hold off, until he had a chance to bow kill him....so, I sat and watched him chase two does, until pitch dark.
He hunted the buck really hard, all weekend, in the 85 degree weather, without any success....he's coming back to hunt the buck again, this weekend, then he has to go back to school.
I love him to death, but told him, if he doesn't get the buck this weekend, I'm not gonna show any further mercy....well, maybe I will !!! ;)
