We'll be having some 'Hoppin John' blackeyed peas and peppers, some corn bread, and fried hog jowl at dinner tonight to ring the new year in, in proper style.

What's your good luck tradition at your house?

My neighbor has a thing every New Year's where I can get my beans and greens. I'll put a pot of bean soup with the leftover hambone from Christmas on tomorrow.

Smoked pork loin....smoked ham....mustard greens outta the garden, cooked with bacon drippin's and ham hock....black-eyed peas, slow-cooked overnight in the crock pot, with ham hock....hash brown casserole with a golden brown corn flake crust....cracklin' cornbread....puh-con pie ala mode.

(My mother-in-law is an awesome cook, and taught her daughter well.) ;)
