Cedar Rapids, IA had one of the pilot programs for introducing peregrine falcons into cities. I watched one hit a pigeon from the window of the CR hospital. Ker- Whack. ;)

Yep. Its actually not as citified as it looks. It's pretty much suburbia two blocks away. You can't really tell from the picture, but the video shows a coopers hawk on that lamp post eating his breakfast.

Is that your view?

There's Pergrines in DC. I've seen them lay waste to a pigeon or two. That's a brutal way to die!

I watched a cooper hit a few squirrels and they are drt in about a second. Not sure how they do it but they flat can put the hurt on a songbird or squirrel.

I've watched eagles dive on sitting ducks but they aren't near as effective. Never witnessed any of them getting close to a kill.

Raptors are cool birds.

I posted the actual video on FB. It was either a very large mouse or a very small rat. I had a big red tail nail a squirrel about 20' feet away when hunting once. I also had an osprey snatch a hickory shad I was fighting out of the river. We played tug of war for a bit until he gave up. I also had a huge freakin' owl swoop down on a buzz bait I was fishing one morning and flare off at the last minute. Very cool birds.

I keep hearing of hawks and eagles hitting duck hunters when they're humped over working a call but never seen it happen.
