96 years old. First sergant in WW2, was on a ship going across the channel on D-Day that got hit in the rudder and lost steering, had tooo be towed back for repairs, he landed 2 days later. One of his favorite stories is when he and a small group of soldiers were walking on a road by a French farm house when a little girl came running out too great them carrying a basket of fresh eggs, they took the eggs and cooked them with spam, he told the men too load up the girls basket with choclate bars which they did. R.I.P. Uncle Pete!!

Several of those guys around when I first enlisted. Lots of folks like this falling all around me. Life is temporary. Bless Uncle Pete! Condolences, Bill.

Sorry to hear this Bill. Not many of them left these days. It's the end of a great generation I'm afraid. At least you have the memories.
