Saw this the other day and can give it a 4.0 out of 5. Pretty good but got a little mystical for me in a few places and I thought it took too much license with the real story (Hollywood) but definitely worth the price of admission. Good movie.

I already got it on my definitely-to-watch list....I read a synopsis about it a few days ago, and I like the idea that it's based on true events....Dicapprio was actually the producer's third choice for the lead part....the first two couldn't tolerate the environment, while filming.

Yeah, it was filmed in Alberta apparently and during some winter months so it must have been miserable. The actors were wet most of the time and it looked COLD.

For some reason, after "Titanic" hit the screen, Dicapprio was black-balled by the Oscar's fat-cats....maybe he boinked one their wives.

Personally, I think he's a fine actor, and have seen most of his movies....my favorite being, "Catch Me If You Can."

Wifey was watching the Golden Globe Awards, the other night, and I peeked in, just as he was awarded for "The Revenant."....he gave quite a heart-felt acceptance speech.

Yeah, sure, surrender your man card!!!! lol!

That's just because he wasn't sure what they meant by "golden globes". ;)

You can pretty much take your pick of Leonardo's movies and he does a great job in it. Blood Diamond is probably one of my all time favorites that he's in.

I've always had a thing for Selma. Something about five foot nothing and tatas 'til Tuesday does it for me.

Juicy melons aside... Just saw the movie tonight and thought it was pretty bad. Maybe I had my hopes up too high. Not sure. 1.5 out of 5 stars.

Saw it about a week ago....it was loosely based on actual military and personal documentation....of course, I'm sure there were events which were exaggerated for movie effects....I thought it was a fantastic depiction of the way frontier life actually was back then....a lawless ruthless environment....can't wait for it to come out on Netflix.

Whether you liked it, or not, you gotta admit that Dicaprio deserves kudos for his performance and endurance, in such a harsh environment.

Hmmmmmm now that you mention that Eddie, maybe that's why it put me off my feed. Us being outdoorsmen, maybe it's easier for us to really understand how brutal it was. Obviously, he would have died 10 times over with some of the hollywoodification of his adventure (like not dying of hypothermia in the river for instance).

Maybe it was that the movie was just disturbing and a little stressful. I did think the story arc really dragged and was incoherent a bunch of times. The acting was very good. I'll give them that.

My buddy, who has never been cold in his life, watched it and said "It was ok".

Sounds like the kind of movie I'll wait and catch next year on a Free HBO Weekend.
