But, this reminded me of someone I know.

Dang! I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out who (Or is that whom? Never could get those straight.) you might be talking about. NOT! ;)

He "acknowledged" it - he didn't correct it.. Caught it immediately, but too late. :(

Hehehehehe... given that I just spit coffee in my keyboard I'ma go out on a limb and guess that was for me!

I thought about cutting back on cussing this year and but's just fucking stupid. This is the only place I can cuss openly and freely.

Duh! It just hit me when I checked back in. Skimmed right over it before, but this time around, it stuck out like a sore thumb. ;)

As the head official of Ministrie du Noticeur Seniore (canadian translation), I'm creating a new title, called Mr Observant. It a level below Noticer status.

As in, "Well done Mr Observant" in response to Thumps post.

Whom is used when who is the object of a preposition.

Yep Bucky, I'm kinda dense sometimes. I always have a problem with "lay" and "set". You also explained that a LONG time ago, but I think my brain is filled with useless info and I just don't retain anything new. ;)

As long as nobody comes out of this thread thinking they can put a finger in me without eating some lead... we're good.

Tell THAT to your doc when your next prostate exam is due. ;)

The "Mr. Observant" reminded me off the old Bob and Tom skit "Mr. Obvious". The best ones were the dishwasher and the garbage disposal.

You mean, kinda like Len's moniker? Or are Mr. Obvious and Captain Obvious brothers? ;)

The guy calling in about hot to cook a turkey was pretty funny too.

Post didn't even need explaining, it was way to obvious. It's funny how you get stuck with a certain character in life, and here he is such a loving DAD to boot. :thumbsup

My humor fails me.

I used 'ain't' and 'gonna' to describe a grammatical rule.

And no one even noticed!!! :)

Lay is a transitive verb and requires an object. "Hens lay eggs". Lie is an intransitive verb, thus no object. "I am going to lie down".

lay
laid
laid

lie
lay
lain

the problem is 'lay' is the English word for present tense of Lay and past tense of Lie.

Set?? Not sure what that one is about. I think I'll go set my butt in a chair and sit for a while and watch football.

And you retain a ton of new stuff. Otherwise you'd never have figured out how to make a living as the White Fred Sanford!!

That one out to be a classic, we named our dishwasher after that skit...
