Cat haters ... just move along ... there's nothing to see here!

We've been feeding a stray cat for months and he's become pretty much approachable now. We've been through this routine a bazillion times. We feed them, get them comfortable with coming regularly at feeding time, then we set a trap, catch 'em, and take them down to the SPCA to get spayed/neutered and have their shots.

Well, we've been feeding one for a while now and he's become pretty friendly. We can pet him as he eats and have even picked him up a few times (not held, just lifted him up and put him back down). He's developing into a pretty decent cat and has never shown any aggressiveness at all toward the couple of cats we let out during the day. Soooo, the time has come to have him checked out and "fixed" before bringing him back "home".

I set the trap Saturday night. Released the neighbor's cat Sunday morning. (Didn't take a pic)

This is just wrong on SO many levels.
First off you never catch the same cat twice. If you do YOU are not doing it right. Second take the possum down the road and release him and he will beat you back to the house.
Rule number two. NEVER catch the same possum twice.

I think I would have released that nasty-assed possum down by the neighborhood lake after having submerged the cage for about five minutes.
