There's been some heated discussion about marijuahootchie on another hunting site....I look at the situation just like the prohibition days of liquor....sooner or later, it's prolly gonna be legalized....some guy posted these statistics, and they were enlightening, to say the least.

When we voted to legalize the casinos, down here, we were promised that every penny of casino tax money would go towards education....that lasted about two years, then our state legislature moved that money into the general fund, and raped it....now, the teachers are back to buying classroom supplies out of their own pockets, again....I see the same thing happening in this situation.

Just wondering what you LEO guys think, and others, as well.

I agree that eventually it will be legalized. Saw the same thing here with the "riverboat" casinos, Ed. I was on our County Conservation Board for 26 years. When that all went down we were supposed to get a yearly windfall, along with education, law enforcement - you name it.. Bill passed.. we never even got it for the first year before Des Moines took it and ran. I say legalize it..

Instead of doing that we're suing Colorado for corrupting our citizens. Our fucking legislature and governor couldn't hit the fucking ground with their hat.
The big money savings here would be the money we save on prosecution and incarceration. I guess we'd rather produce career criminals though.

Nope. There was a petition drive a couple years ago but they didn't get enough signatures. Referendum rules here are there to protect the status quo. I doubt it will ever get legalized here. Hell, we only got liquor by the drink in the Mid 80s and we were the last state in the union to do so.

Our new ruling party (Liberals) are moving forward on their election promise to legalize pot. Our Supreme Court just ruled that the law preventing medicinal pot users from growing their own supply is invalid and they can grow plants for their own consumption. Good move. Hell, I saw on the news that London Drugs and Shoppers are lining up to be pot dispensaries. I would think that pot will be legal in Canada this year.

What I want to see is the decriminalization of the growing and consumption of mj. I'd prefer that to Big Business getting involved. Guess I'm just an old hippie at heart. :biggrin

The one state where the conservatives have allowed a vote of the people, they constructe the law so that only a few selected large operatins would be allowed to be distributors. This is what Oklahoma did as well with its alcohol distributors: provided a monopoly to political cronies. It was voted down in Ohio, mainly because of the way they were trying to line pockets when it was set up.

Donald Trump ...

"In terms of marijuana and legalization, I think that should be a state issue, state-by-state,"

It's always about the money, ain't it?

Its all about the Benjamins, as you say. Or loonies, I guess in your case.

Here's the issue with the state by state philosophy. As long as it is against federal law, banks can't loan the capitol needed for legitimate distributorships to get started. So what is actually happening, is that the feds are holding backto allow the big money people to get a head start on the business side.

Yeah, it's more than apparent that Big Business, with the help of the feds, is setting themselves up to be the ONLY distributer of pot up here. After years of being ignored by the police, small med mj shops are now being shut down as the legalization process goes forward. Less competition for the big guys once the new laws come into effect. Sometimes I just get totally sick of the corruption around us.

First step I would like to see is...Stop arresting people for smoking a joint.
