It seems AOL has taken over Verizon's eMail accounts. I received an eMail explaining the change-over a couple weeks ago and I think today is the deadline for the conversion in order to keep our same eMail address. I now have AOL mail, but retained my Verizon eMail address.

So, I just switched 5-6 days ago, but man-o-man. I've been inundated with *&^%$#%@ frigging junk eMails ever since! I mean, I must have to delete 50/day! When on Verizon's eMail system, they had a spam filter and I have to say, it worked pretty well. A few slipped by, but VERY few. This is really getting aggravating ... I mean, as soon as I switched to AOL, it's like the dam broke! It's still new to me, but I've searched around a bit and can't seem to find any sort of spam filter. I did find where I can filter out incoming eMails by address or key words, but I'm not sure what good that will do me as far as spam is concerned. Do any o'youse yahoos know if AOL has such a thing? I'm not sure how the Verizon filter worked, but it did a pretty darn good job of it.

It only affects Florida, California and Texas.

Here's the goofy part (see highlighted area ... #2).

Verizon is teaming up with AOL to provide its customers in FL, CA & TX with AOL Mail, an enhanced email experience. Here are just a few of the benefits you'll get with AOL Mail:

1) Much more storage space for your email
2) Advanced spam filters
3) Virus protection
4) Email attachments up to 25MB
5) Send texts and instant messages right from your inbox
6) Easily manage your email anywhere with the highly rated AOL app

If the spam filter is an automatic operation, it doesn't work worth a shit!

Now would be the time to go to Gmail, yahoo or hotmail. Take your choice. You'll be locked in to your verizon/aol email forever trapped in an endless cycle of crap if you don't get out now. YOu can put up and auto reply to anyone that sedns to your verizon address with the new address. It's a good way to go man... trust a nizzle.

Yeah, I tend to drag my feet on stuff like that. I've had the same email address for elebenty-bazillion years and would really hate to change it. I figure I'll tough it out for a while and see if things settle down over time. It's only been a few days.
