Hey Posthole, I don't know if you know this

but Jim Harrison grew up in Michigan, not far from here.

He wrote "Legends of the Fall" while holed up in a cabin in Leeland, a small town just a few miles west of us. (took Bucky there)
Sort of followed Hemingway as a writer from here.

I figured he was from Michigan, but assumed that he was a Yooper since many of his stories (his best ones I think) happen there. He also writes a lot about the Grand Marais, MN area which is another absoultely beautiful part of the country.

I'm sad we lost him. Great writer.

As for Hemingway, Lynn and I spent almost a full day roaming around his house in Key West. Interesting place if you ever get down that way. I also spent quite some time drinking at his old watering hole, Sloppy Joe's. In fact, I gots the t-shirt to prove it ... although it doesn't fit anymore! :(

BTW, he was a huge cat lover and his original cat, "Snow White", was given to Hemingway by some sea captain back in the day. Snow White was polydactyl (had 6 toes) and most of the 50-60 descendants roaming the house and grounds nowadays still carry the trait.

Hemingway and his sons ... and him with some of his cats. (just sayin') ;)

Harrison is twice the writer Hemingway ever was. They shared some mutual loves of outdoors things, eating, and drinking, but their writing is as different as night and day.
