Hey P-hole, it's been nice knowin' you!

WASHINGTON — A piece of U.S. history is leaving the District, and you can watch it go.

It’s the USS Barry, which has been a museum ship at the Washington Navy Yard since the early 1980s.

Navy Lt. Luke Adams with Navy Support Activity in Washington says tug boats will tow the USS Barry to Philadelphia. He says all the ship’s internal systems have been in layup and out of commission, so the ship cannot move on its own power.

The ship will begin its journey around 7 a.m. Saturday.

It will pass The Yards Park, and the best place to see it will be west of the entrance to the Washington Navy Yard Riverwalk.

The USS Barry will eventually be dismantled and sold for scrap.

The USS Barry earned two battle stars in Vietnam and was called into action during the Cuban missile crisis.

Named after John Barry, the father of the US Navy! (Niner would know that I'll betcha)

There's a new Barry though, an Aegis class destroyer that's still in service.

Which proves, you can't keep a good Barry down!
