One of the things I have to do at work sometimes is VIN inspections in vehicles because the Indiana BMV requires a police check on any title application for a vehicle with an out of state title or one with a lost title or a salvage vehicle.

Today I had to do one for a guy that does restorations. I knew he was a Pontiac guy and one of the vehicles I had to do a check one was a '68 GTO but that wasn't the interesting one. He had four other vehicles that he was going to try to fix up that were barn finds and personally I'd never heard of them before.

All of them were Kaisers. The first was a '52 Manhattan, there were two '53 Manhattans and the last was a '54 Deluxe.

I thought it was really cool to have the Kennedy sticker in the back window of the Deluxe.

I'm getting a neck ache! :D

Cool find, they sure aren't making any more of 'em, that's for sure! I remember the old Kaiser's well. That '52 would have been the first year after the Kaiser-Frazer split. Actually, Kaiser also made a car called an Allstate. It was just a Kaiser with an Allstate badge and sold through Sears-Roebuck. If you were ever into drag racing, you "might" recall the (my personal favorite Kaiser) Henry-J ... as in Henry J. Kaiser (Chairman of Kaiser). I think probably every Henry-J that ever existed, eventually got converted into a drag car ... almost always a gasser.

That's neat stuff right there!

Here are some typical (Kaiser) Henry-J gassers from back in the day. (I grew up with these cars!)

He had an almost finished '71 Chevelle that looked really good and I've seen some of the GTO's he'd done in the past.

He also had a red '77 Trans Am that he'd finished for sale.

He also had a couple more goats and a Roadrunner in the barn that were future projects.

The Deluxe that had the Kennedy sticker in the rear window was in pretty rough shape and he didn't know if he'd be able to save it. He did say that even if he can't salvage the car he's keeping that window.

Can anyone tell me why every pic I post from my iPhone turns like that when I post them here?

I ran into a similar type deal when I was looking for a new place to keep my boat. Ran across an opening this guy had and went out to look at it and met him at his shop. He must have had thirty old Mustangs in various states of rehab. Nice guy too. Here's his website. http://www.musclecarrestoration.biz/Left_Nav/About_Us.htm.
