I need some. 216,000 miles on a 12 year old truck is about all I could ask for.

Thinking pretty hard about going back to a Tacoma sized truck. I dunno. I like the size and power of a 1/4 ton but I could get away with less. And better mileage.

Jimmy, can you get your 'Yota boy to hook me up?

So I went thru the "build" process on the 'yota site and came up with this.

Thru my USAA buying plan I can knock a few thousand off that price.

Not sure if it's worth it though.

Holy cap! You Loudoun boys sure drive a bunch. I've only got 85k on my 2004. I hear you though. Even as little as I drive, that 12-14mpg around town bugs me. That's part of the reason I'm thinking about getting something other than a truck for most of my non-hunting driving and letting Matt drive the truck around town. Don't you guys have a Jeep? How you liking it?

The Jeep is Lucia's. She loves it but I think she's getting to the latter part of "getting it out of her system" :D I thought about taking the Jeep but it's just not comfortable to me. Especially longer drives. That short wheelbase wears you down after a while.

I like the forerunners too but I'm not sure I can bring myself to drive something without a bed in the back. I've been doing it for 30+ years.

Man, those are pricey. I was thinking used BMW convertible until I talked to USAA about the difference in insurance.

Yeah, that's what's got me. If I dump that coin on a "trucklet" I'm a few thousand away from a decent full size truck.

That's one of my fears as I usually drive something for 10 years or so. Those Wrangler Unlimiteds hold their value so well (almost like a Toyota truck) that it doesn't make sense to look at used.

From what I'm seeing you could get a used full size coming off a 2-3 year lease for that kind of money. That may not make sense with the kind of miles you drive. But, that's what I did on my last truck and have only put 45k on it in almost 10 years.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH Drive A LOT! My 2014 Z-71 has right at 80,000 miles on it. And I just took the factory set of tires off and put on another set just like them. I would have gotten at least 90,000 out of that set of tires but I ran over a broken 2X4 on the interstate the other day and part of it when through the sidewall. The tire did not go flat and I ran it the rest of the trip or about another 1,000 miles. So I figure a set of tires that good I would go back with another set just like it.

You went through the build process and chose "Baby-Shit Brown" as a color?? :crazy

You working guys sure do put on the miles. My 2012 Expedition just rolled 50K. I like the comfort of the beast, so I can live with the 14 mpg around town.
Now Tickboy and Chicken Feed, it's about time you express your mid life desire and find a fun car. Kid's are grown, ya got a big old truck for your chores, and the wife has her grocery getter. Live a little, I did this 13 years ago. Just rolled 70K on it too. You can get into one of these used for 20K or under.

I just had to make a turnaround and drive back to Arkansas for a funeral. Got an amazing 18 mpg on my yote this trip. Of course 90% of that was on cruise. But thats with a 381 hp engine too.

If I had it to do over, I'd buy another yote at this point. Now, thats with the caveat i've put all of 25k on my truck in the last two years. So the jury is still largely out.

Get a stool fuckstick! I actually want that electric blue color Toyota has but I learned my lesson with attention grabbing colors and being a lead foot :)

My last two have been the blue and I'm constantly getting compliments from strangers. Go for it!

Seriously, which would you REALLY rather drive? (just keep your foot out of it dufus!)

Prob. is, he'd have to buy a used one. I'm not sure what year it was they pulled Hunter Green from the color chart. Get with the 21st century Chevyboy. ;)

I'm not a fan of the electric blue. In fact, I've been looking at the new Tundra's and, as much as I love me some Toyota trucks, I have to say I'm not a fan of their paint choices in general right now.

JB, I was looking at the BMW convertibles hard until I talked to my insurance agent. My rates just doubled when I added Matt to the policy on my existing vehicles. They would almost double again if I added the 335i convertible. Basically, I paid about $120 this monh; that will jump to $240 and change next month (by adding a 16 year old boy) and would go to almost $410/month if I got the BMW. Granted, that's adding a vehicle. But adding something like a new truck or a Jeep would be almost $100/month less. What a racket!

Since you brought up auto insurance, what is y'alls' feelings about when you drop comprehensive coverage or raise your deductibles? I just paid off my wife's 4Runner and have been thinking about reducing our coverage/insurance on it. The truth is, we very seldom have any insurance claims on our vehicles and it seems such a waste to carry full coverage for so long. Hers is a 2012. We already carry $1000 deductibles to keep it low.

Did I mention i hate insurance?

Ya don't need it till some sucker T-bones your wifes car and they total it. Can you replace it with your out of pocket money?
If that would hurt, then you need insurance.

I'm a huge fan of blue, so it's all good for me. Heck, Lynn gets on to me all the time, stuff like when I buy a shirt I'll get: "Blue????" "ANOTHER BLUE shirt?"

But, as for the colors available this year (other than the blue) ... they're totally boring. The red/maroon (or whatever it's called) is really nice, but way too common on the road IMHO. Mark this day in history ... I actually have something negative to say about Toyota ... this years colors suck big ol' giant weenies!

If I was self discilined enough, I'd stick the premium difference in a savings account and just insure myself. It'd only take a year to have enough to cover most claims. If it got totalled it wouldn't be covered totally of course for a longer time.
I was just wondering if anyone had done the actual math.

My deductible is at $500 and I had to pay it twice this winter on my wife's car. Once because I drove it into the basketball hoop and again when a big old branch fell on it literally on the day I got it back from the body shop. I'd hate to have to replace a 5 year old 4Runner out of pocket if I was at fault. So, that may be too soon for me. Based on what I'm paying now, I need to look at this hard once I add the third vehicle.

There are way too many deer where I live to drop comprehensive on my vehicles.
