We have a nephew, JD, who was born with a rare disease that nearly killed him at birth. He spent almost 150 days in NICU before they could even bring him home. Our cousins we there night and day in order to spend every possible second with him that directly affected his progress to the point he could finally go home with his family. Spending time with a critically ill child is the most important thing a parent can do to help them.
Lucia is running the Chicago half marathon to raise money for a charity that provides critical services to families of kids on the NICU. The Jackson Chance foundation uses their money to get parent to their kids bedsides and provides them everything they need to stay by their kids bedside.
