Or at least that is what it turned out to be.

Yesterday the in-laws sent us play-by-play text messages from Lake Sakakawea telling us how good the salmon bite was. By noon my wife suggested that perhaps we should run up there after work to see if there would be an evening bite. No arm twisting was necessary so after work, away we went.

Not only was the fishing good (caught 3 salmon and lost another), the weather was perfect, and we saw a DANDY bull moose about 125 yards off of the road. It was a late night for us old folks but well worth it.

Hot fun in the summertime.

Hey isn't that a song? Sly and the Family Stone?

Yep! Loved 'em and had every one of their 8-tracks! ;)

Went to their concert in Memphis in 1970 at the auditorium. Joints were circulating through the stands from all directions! Heck, you'd pass one on and another got handed to you. Ahhh, the good old days! :D

Great pics Bwana. I'm a sucker for sunset shots.

I understand lakers were stocked a LONG time ago but I've never seen or heard of one being caught for more then 20 years.

I was looking at some lake maps, that's one big motor scooter of a lake!

That it is Posthole and given it's mainly East-to-West orientation coupled with a predominating W-NW wind, when a front comes through it can make for some pretty nasty waves. Not something you soon forget if you get caught out in such an event.

I'm hoping the winds stay down this weekend and the salmon cooperate as it will be our last family outing of the summer as the boys are off to college soon.

Freshman year for the younger boy? Where's he headed? Any update on his health issues from a while back?

CD, you are right on the money. Oldest will be a junior and the younger a freshman at the University of North Dakota, which is not the GOOD school, North Dakota State University that my wife and I both attended.

As for his leg bone, at his last check-up there was no change which is WAY good news and the Doc told him not to worry about it for another 18 months when they will again do another x-ray and MRI to see if anything has changed. I continue to say prayers and keep my fingers crossed that it never amounts to anything.

Good news on the leg and go Fighting Sioux! It could be a fun family rivalry if they play each other on sports.

It would be except UND rules in hockey and NDSU in football so not sure anything else really matters. ;)
