Missouri and Arkansas now have banned hog hunting on most public land. I hope Oklahoma follows suit. As long as there is legal hunting of them, people will continue to release them on public land.

They aren't game, they are vermin.

Wait, what? What about the existing feral hogs? Don't they breed like rabbits? Isn't only a matter of time before people are saying "We gotta kill these damn hogs"?

They are planning to trap them out. Plus, they still allow you to kill one on sight if you're legally hunting an 'in-season' wild game.

People are making money off of them. Hunting them out isn't working because they turn as many loose as they kill.

Trying to trap hogs out of an area is like trying to shoot pool with a rope.

Well, neither does hunting them, as history has shown.

We had a guy (with relatives in OK, btw) who released 50 about 20 mile north of me. A year later he released 50 more. There were sows and pigs everywhere. I shot 4 out of the combine. The two sows had 5 pigs each. "They" said you have them now - you'll never get rid of them. "They" never heard of Louisa County, Iowa.. Took a couple years - done deal.. Tell these boys, "Isis is good to eat, limit is one, season is closed." We'd have them wiped out in a week..

I have no doubt that on private lands locals can rub them out quite effectively, although that hasn't been the case here.

These laws though have to do with controlling them on Wildlife Management Areas, not private lands.
