Helping get the oldest set up with an IRA. He's 18, full time student, and working a couple three days a week. He wants to open up an IRA. Roth makes the most sense for him. Had I done this at 18, I'd be a lot less poor years from now.

Looking to do this online... anyone have any suggestions? There's a ba-trillion out there. Need something that is low on fees/costs and also one with a decent amount of investment options.

Save me some time researching and tell me something good!

I don't have a roth but my 401k is with Fidelity and I really like it. Lots of options and an intuitive interface. Oh, and my account is usually kicking ass and taking names. So far... I'm almost to the "I'm old and need to put that shit in a safer place" phase :)

I mean, 12 bucks is a lot of money!

Been a while since I've looked at it, but Vanguard used to have the lowest fees around.

Good idea to get the lad to think along those lines!

I have no idea about a product. Most banks have financial advisers that'll help you for free if you already bank there. That's who I'd ask.
