The body size of this deer actually made the rack look kind of small. It field dressed 188 at the butcher.

Not sure if this is my favorite or not. Easily the EASIEST buck I've ever killed... and sadly the last one I killed. Egghead took me to his lease. I went to a stand they called the honeyhole stand. Egghead got restless and starting walking around at the bottom of the mountain. He pushed this guy right up to me. I grunted once, he froze perfectly broadside my 60 yards away and that was that.

Ha! That was actually my stand and that buck was shot about 200 yards from where the one in my picture was shot.

That skyline in the background makes me think of home!

True story. When I first found the spot where Len shot that buck I was always a little vague about where it was exactly as I was trying to be a little cagey. I would just tell the guys I had found this little "honey hole" up the ridge a ways. Eventually, I got tired of setting on a stump and we put up a permanent stand and they started calling it "Hank's Honey Hole". For obvious reasons, I requested we drop the Hank and it just became the Honey Hole Stand.
Oldest son and oldest daughter with my son's best buck. This was many moons ago, but still fresh in my memory bank.

My dad added the caption. Not sure the body was quite that big, but it was in fact a big sumbitch

You talking about the buck or the hat?

We didn't hunt in heated Tower stands. At BEST, my ass say on 2 2x4's nailed into the crotch of the tallest tree we could find.

I used to carry around four or five of those screw in steps and a notched 2x8 to get up in trees and stomp the seat into the crotch of a tree. Worked good! Makes my back hurt to think about it now, but that wasn't an issue for us youngsters.

Those are big enough to saddle and fly home on!

Here are my absolutely favorite hunting pics. One with a couple of first timers and the second one with the same boys and a bunch of old timers.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bf1759c4d5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1570cf5605.jpg
