Honor Flight
Earlier this past week my father-in-law and his younger brother, both Vietnam vets, were able to participate in an Honor Flight. The flight departed for Washington D.C. early Sunday morning and returned late Monday night to an incredible welcoming crowd comprised of family, friends, a local school honor guard/band, and others. To say the veterans were shocked and surprised is an understatement. It felt great to be a part of such an event and be able to shake hands with at least a few of the nearly 100 Korean and Vietnam vets that were on the flight.

My Dad was a WWII vet but he died before they had the memorial built in DC and obviously before the honor flights started. My sister’s father-in-law was a Korean vet and he got to go on one before he passed. My nephew went with him and they both really enjoyed it.
