He'd been a shooter in another couple of years
^^^^ Dying laughing!
Nice deer Cappy....I almost didn't click worrying that "meat on a pole" title might be NSFW
Good mass... and that buck has heavy horns, too. ;) Strong work.
Thanks all. Just cleared the processors. On his scales it was 196. On our hunt club scales he was 190 even. So he was a 200 class buck.
Came in with 4 does. Not worrying them but pushing them some.
I shot him with my Savage smokeless muzzleloader at about 50 yards.
He dropped and stayed down for a full minute or longer. I was almost finished reloading and I saw him get up and half drag, half run off.
It's been raining like the devil here for two days so I got down and tried to find blood. Not one drop where he was laying OR where he ran....
He was sorta dragging when he left so all I had to go in was drag marks. If there was blood with the leaves and ground wet and the light rain still falling I could not find it. Walked up on him about 80 yards from where I last marked him.
The bullet did not go through so I guess that all blood stayed inside. Very lucky to find him. One guy helped me and we drug him the 100 yards to the buggy. I would have sworn he was 500 pounds.
I passed on this buck on the last day of last years season. He was not as heavy on the mass and not as tall or wide. I kicked my butt for awhile for letting him go last year but sorta glad now that I did.
I'm glad to see you're not straining your tender self. Way to take care of that fresh cut hernia, dude.
That's a damn fine buck. Can't wait to see some better pics of him. You got some more dontcha?
He'd make a beautiful european mount with those heavy horns.

Posthole I made a few pictures on my iPhone. Don't know if there are really any "better" ones.

Not to "Jimmy" this thread (I kid) but I swear I killed that bucks twin brother years ago. 11 points and the mass looked exactly like that.
And of course he kills the lord of the realm on November friggin 3rd.
Geeze.

I'm fixing to make me a Gateway drink and go to bed. Got to work at Bass Pro tomorrow. :-)
Retirement is killing me.
And No Posthole dragging and loading that thing was not one of my smartest moves. But it had to be done.
I killed one a few years back that went 186 field dressed at the processor and it was all I could do to get it up on the wheelie.
Is it my imagination? Or is he looking into the camera for both those shots?
Edit: This post makes no sense now that you've added more pics!
My eyes hurt after looking at pic #3 above ... PLEASE leave your hat ON for any future pics! ;)

Cap, that's a chocolate moose.....a big 'un with chocolate antlers....congrats, brother!!!!!
That is a fine buck for a fine hunter that puts in his time. Well deserved as far as I'm concerned.
Love the mass and the color of the antlers. Well done Cappy!
