    Vegas trip report

We got back home this evening from Vegas. It was our first time there and all I can say is, WOW. Vegas is definitely over the top and sensory overload.

We stayed at the Tropicana. Not the newest, biggest, or fanciest place on the strip, but we really liked it for those reasons. It was really nice and not so big that you could get lost in it like the MGM. We got a great deal on the room and we're upgraded to a poolside bungalow. Exactly what we were looking for since we wanted to spend a great deal of our daytimes at the pool. (What else would an Indiana boy want to do on Spring Break?). (On a side note, I didn't realize he was even still around, but Rich Little still does nightly shows at the Tropicana.)

We got there on Sunday afternoon and hit the ground running checking out a good portion of the strip and going to see Blue Man Group. I really liked it but my wife was so-so about it. Did dinner that night in one of the French restaurants at Paris. We had seats with a view of the Bellagio fountains.

Monday was spent relaxing at the pool until evening then hitting more of the strip checking out some of what we hadn't gotten to yet. Dinner was at Trattoria Reggiano at the Venetian. We didn't do the gondola ride there because we've done the real thing in Venice, Italy. We followed that up with Ka by Cirque du Soleil. What an awesome show!

On Tuesday it was more pool time during the day then we went downtown to Fremont Street. The overhead light show was cool, but now that I've seen it, I don't see any reason to go back downtown. Then we went back to the strip.

We finished up Wednesday by hitting the High Roller after dark. We opted for the open bar package. Met another couple from Indiana on the ride who both also happened to be Purdue alums as well. Discovered that when the drinks are included in the price, I'm determined to get my money's worth.

All in all we had an awesome time and will definitely be going back. We are already in discussions with some friends about planning a trip either this Fall or early next Spring.

Yep, Freemont street is one of those "been there, done that" kinda things. Everyone needs to hit downtown at least once when in Vegas. I loved Blue Man Group, but a year or so later, I went to another of their shows (in Orlando). I'd have to say they're also a "been there, done that" experience. I didn't enjoy the second show so much. Glad you had a good time ... Vegas has a little something for everyone, even if you never gamble (which I don't). Oh, and a side note, do not EVER allow your wife to go to the eye doctor. If he ever corrected her obviously flawed vision, she'd end up throwing rocks at your fugly ass!

Sounds like you did it about right!
