I know when I test drove the f-150 I didn't like the front side windows. I felt like they really limited visibility on the sides and rear when changing lanes, etc.

I love my Tundra but I have always thought the Tacomas looked meaner. There are times I have remorse for not buying one. But for road trips, I've never driven in a better vehicle. I got 18 mpg without and 14 pulling a big boat this trip up to Canada. And that's with 385 hp. Give Toyota another few years building big trucks and they'll have quite a package.

Yep, I have no need for anything bigger than a Tacoma and LOVE the looks of their Sport package. This year, they have the Sport package for the Tundra also ... although I'm sure you'd prefer the Off-Road package which I have no need for these days.

I believe they're also putting a diesel in the Tundra this year, but personally, I've never been a fan.

IF (and I've been thinking about it) I get another truck, it'll be the Platinum package or none at all.
My suggestions on how they could improve the Tundra package is
1. offer a true 3/4 ton truck
2. beef up the suspension just a hair more on the 1/2 ton. Its already stiffer than the Ford 1/2 ton but not quite as much (IMO) as my old 2000 Z71, which was more like a 5/8ths ton. I'm not sure what Chevy is doing now.
3. Offer a true integration with phone apps like WAZE and others that lets you operate them via the dash panel. The gps that comes on Toyota trucks is more like a toy gps than a real one.
4. offer a 40 gal gas tank. The 20 gal tank on mine gives me less than 300 miles range when I'm towing. That's ridiculous when a one kidney having old fucker like me has a bladder that lasts longer than the gas in my truck.

P-hole, I always figured you for a TRD Pro type guy, but I guess we're all getting older!
Seriously, I have not stayed on top of the Tundra options because I have no need or interest in a full-sized truck. I'm just wondering, can you get a TRD Pro and add all the wanted extras of the Platinum option? Or does it even make sense to do so? I suppose I could peruse the brochures on Mr. Gore's internet and figure it all out ... but I'm too lazy ... plus I don't want to clutter my brain with info I don't really have a use for.
Or heck, is the Pro suspension available with the Platinum option?

I can back up trailers, but that sure would make it easier on the neck and back strain.
Btw, call me collect, when you learn how to back up a long tongue trailer, with a pivoting front axle like this one.....I know only one living man who can back up those type trailers, without cussing, and he can park it on a dime.

I've seen those trailers around on farms but never hitched up to one. I can only imagine it'd be a bitch to back them up. I saw a older guy at a boat ramp once that had a reciever and hitch on the front of his pickup. it looked really wierd to see him unloading but he said it made it easy as pie. That's prolly what I'd do if I had to move one of those contraptions around.
I gotta ask, what's the advantage? Square turns? Tumped over trailers?

While driving my truck, I had a pretty regular delivery where I had to back a 53' box (coupled to a sleeper tractor) into a narrow alley between two brick buildings. To add a bit of difficulty, it had to be quick because I needed every inch of the street to swing in there and I'd be completely blocking downtown traffic while doing it. The fun part? With my trailer doors opened and latched, I had approx. 6"-8" clearance on each side!
Another fun time is parallel parking one of those beasts! Admittedly, I only had to do it twice on the road, but it's a bit nerve wracking. Both times was during the wee hours of the morning as my clock was running out. I'd pull into a rest area to shut down and the place was packed full. Trucks would be parked along the road that goes through the rest area and I'd have to take the only open spot available ... the space between two trucks where another driver had been parked previously and pulled out. Drivers get a bit grumpy when you hit their $200,000 rig while backing into a tight spot ... then add the fact you end up shaking him out of bed while in a deep sleep! NOT a good scenario! Luckily, I never had to worry about getting my ass kicked.
I will say, one of the toughest things I ever had to back was one'a these! (admittedly, I was just playing with another driver's load in a large, open area and backed it between two traffic cones)

I really like my Ford SuperDuty truck. Way nicer to drive, in all respects, than the Chev 3500 I test drove. Course we're talking real trucks here, not some Toyota wannabe.
