    What A Week!

The Captain squirted out of here like a watermelon seed about 4:00 this morning headed back to the Carolinas. It's the last step in a week of many steps and many tracks left in the mud here and there over the past week. I'll outline and let Larkefill in particulars when he gets home.
He got in here about 5:00 on Monday and made a very long 1000 miles in record time. On Tuesday I took him up to The Nature Conservancy's Tallgrass Prairie Preserve near Pawhuska, Oklahoma. That's where our late Herb lived and we rehashed some old memories of Skip when we rolled through town. Saw a WHOLE bunch of tatonkas. It was a beautiful sunny day and what we saw couldn't have been much different than what it looked like in the early 1800s.
We were up and early Wednesday, and I carried him down to a mountain lake in southeast Oklahoma where I grew up. We fished there all day and stayed the night at my best buddy's house in my home town. Sat in the yard with some good people, drank a little whiskey, burned some steaks, and had an awesome visit.
Up early Thursday, left the big boat at my buddy's and Larke and I headed over the farm my great great grandfather started in 1877 in southwest Arkansas. We fished the Fourche La Fave river in a little 12 jon I keep down there and then sat and visited with my first cousin Ron. It stormed on is that noght and we woke to no power.
Up early Friday we headed back towards NE Oklahoma where we dripped off the big boat, swapped it for my 14 ft jon and went up to Winganon and met Birddog at the Boomerang strip mine pit. We got rained on but had an awesome afternoon fishing and visiting. The sun popped out briefly when we loaded the boat and said bye to Keith, but about the time we got home the sky opened up. We may have got five inches of rain last night. We ain't got nowhere to put it. Sorry Eddie!
Trav came over and we burned some more steaks, sipped on a little whiskey and wound down from a good week.
I am sure he will try to spin things, but all I will say about that is he left here a better fisherman than he was when he arrived. He started out slow, but by the end of the week he was really starting to make progress. I even had time to fish a little and catch a few my self but you know how hard guiding is, especially at the Master level.

It was quite an honor to have Larke here this week. Im damn lucky to be able to call him him a friend. A DAYAM good guy. I won't ever forget this week.

Come back and see us, Larke!

I think I ended up owing him $3.00 this time. But I had a student I had to take to school on a few things so I was preoccupied.

I'll let Larke post all the pics, but here's a dandy holding a dandy. Grinnin' like a possum.

If they fished with me and my K-mart, "blue-light special" fish-slayer, they'd BOTH need a Brinks truck JUST to haul what they'd owe me!

Problem is, he's a member of The Secret Committee and can even change the quote in YOUR post!
