    Good Luck! Opening Day

The Okie gun deer opener is this morning, as it sounds like it is in several other states. So to all you Goodhunters that are sitting in a stand somewhere, kill a biggun!

This thread is a good a place as any to post your pics today.

Even though there was rain in the forecast I took my nephew out for the Indiana opener this morning. It wasn’t really raining but it was foggy and it was misting. Warm for this time of year though.

We jumped a small buck on our way to the stands and he saw a doe with a couple fawns but he wasn’t able to get a shot at the doe. I had a fawn and then a couple yearling bucks come by me, nothing worth shooting.

Then around 9:30 the rain started and eventually turned into thunderstorms, not very common for November in northern Indiana.

The rain lasted the rest of the day, so my wife decided it was time to put up the Christmas tree. We always go east for Thanksgiving and she wants the tree up by then.

My nephew is staying with us again tonight and we’ll be trying again tomorrow. Temps are supposed to be right around freezing with some snow. Hopefully without the 18MPH wind that we have now.

My opening day was spent in the office until noon. But I sure do enjoy living vicariously through all the peeps I know hunted yesterday. I had pics of deer in in every other text, and all through Facebook newsfeed.
    My time is coming!

Nice going there, Cap.....I see there's still some greenery in your area, too.....we had some 40 mph winds ahead of a big cold front, last night, and there oughta be a massive amount of leaves on the ground, today.....that's just what Sandy and I have been waiting on.....now, we can see those little squirrelly bastages a lot better.

Btw, I love your "expensive" hunting britches.....that's exactly what I wear, when hunting.....I bought two pair at Walmart on sale, last week, for $9.95 a pair.....in my opinion, by the time a deer figures out that your wearing blue jeans, it's too late for him, anyway.

Nice shooting Cap! Here’s a couple of bucks from our camp. (Not shot by me.). The one on the right was the money buck this year. The one on the left limped over from the neighbors on three legs and a guy put it down. We would normally have let it walk and they never came looking for it.

Congrats to all you successful hunters.....I had to forego my morning hunt.....my 16 y.o. grandson showed up last night, right after midnight, with about half the boys in his sophomore class.....after eating just about everything in our refrig.,(one kid was especially fond of my wife's pickled okra and ate the whole day'um jar), they headed to my cabin in the woods for some shuteye.....about 5 am, g'son called and woke me up to tell me that he had sent all his friends to different deer stands, and the only place left for him to go was MY deer stand.....of course, I said have at it, so I just rolled over and went back to sleep.....actually, it felt pretty darned good, doing that.

Ya’ gonna sneak out to the cabin to confiscate the beer before they come out of their stands? 😉

Nah, I decided to just over-look it, and let 'em be boys.....ha, at their age, I was drinking sheeit lots worse than Bud Lights....just as long as they don't drink it before or during a hunt.

Took my nephew out again this morning. Weather much better, temp in the mid 30’s, and spitting some snow. Only downside was the wind, had 20mph gusts and steady winds on about 10 mph. I never had anything to shoot at but my nephew had a chance at a nice 8 but it jumped the fence into the woods before he could take the shot. He’s coming back after Thanksgiving to give it another try.

My oldest nephew who is 30 shot this dandy though.

I’m sure his Camo didn’t match either.

Well, two of the kids with my g'son nailed does, this afternoon.....both are 16 y.o., and I told them if they were old enough to kill a deer, then they were old enough to skin and clean it themselves.....I coached from the sidelines, and they did a pretty fair job, however, both carcasses still looked like they had been attacked by Jack the Ripper.

My oldest son is 30 and he killed his first antlered buck this morning. It'll all be downhill after this one

Nice! Is. that a gunshot wound?

I like that tall rack. He’d have been a monster in a year or two.

Nice deer. The deer on my old hunt club tended to have narrow tall racks like that and I like them, too. They never tended to get real wide even with age.

That is a bullet hole. Said he shot him behind the shoulder and the deer barely twitched. The neck wound is the second shot

Since he'd be a pretty nice buck in a couple of years, I'd have let him walk this season.

I also have a bridge for sale in San Francisco if you're in the market for one.
