Jim Nabors gone at 87.
My Dad would laugh his loudest watching Gomer Pyle USMC. I preferred Gomer in Nayberry where he belonged. And he beat Goober by a mile.

Viva Renaldo!
I’ll always remember him more from his singing “Back Home Again in Indiana” at the Indy 500. He did it 36 times over a course of 42 years. I have a video I took of his last performance of the song in 2014 posted on Facebook.

It was really odd knowing the goofball side of him, and then hearing him sing. Talk about a contrast.

Frank Sutton, the guy who played Sgt Carter was a pretty decorated Pacific WWII Army veteran. I’m sure his character was a combination of a lot of nco’s back in the day.

Damn I didn’t see that. My dad loved him some Gomer.
I read in the paper today where his husband made the announcement.
The guy could sing, and his role as a Marine was somewhat accurate.
The older I get, the better I was. I also forget my password and have to have Len reset it for me
I loved me some Andy Griffin and Gomer Pyle reruns as a kid. I also remember the first time I heard him sing in some variety show. I was like, Damn!
RIP.
