Love those chocolate horns!
Just imagine what they’d have looked like next year!

Well congrats to your son, those are a couple of well-fed critters that are sporting some pretty decent head gear to boot!
Yep, we love 'em, too.....and, there's another buck on my place that looks like his antlers were dipped in very dark brown paint.....we've nick-named him Big Red because he's got a tuft of curly red hair on his forehead, and another tuft of red hair on his butt, right above his tail bone....he's only a 9 pt., but at least a 20 inch inside spread.....I've been hunting him for about 2 weeks, but he's a smart one.....I had him dead to rights at about 300 yds., two days ago, but I just didn't feel comfortable, shooting at nearly dusk dark, and possibly wounding him.....I estimate him to be a 5-1/2 year old deer, and that old warrior deserves an instant kill shot, not suffering in a brush pile.

Yep, we had an excellent growing season down here this year, and our deer are very big and fat from all the acorns and high quality forage.....my son's first deer tipped the scales at 227 lbs., and the second one was 238 lbs.....and, their weights are prolly down 5-10 % because they're in the peak of the rut, right now.

Looks like he took those bad boys about a year early. They'd have been nice one's next year.

Don't them southern deer bleed?
