Man, all this talk of Jackson has given me a Johnny Cash ear worm.

When I breeze into that city, people gonna stoop and bow. (Hah!)
All them women gonna make me, teach 'em what they don't know how,
I'm goin' to Jackson, you turn-a loose-a my coat.
    'Cause I'm goin' to Jackson.

When I lived in Vicksburg, I’d usually end up in Jackson with most of my dates. My favorite nightclub back in the day was a place called “The Dump”. They had old cars in there and would remove the (4) doors, mount the front (bench) seat facing the back seat and install a narrow table between them (big enough for snacks and drinks. Lighting for the “booth” came from the dome light. I thought that place was so cool. My favorite booth was a ‘57 Chevy.

Ha, Thump, been there-done that, too.....it was still in business until about ‘85.....new mgmt. cleaned up the joint, and changed the name to Cadillac Cove.....I don’t have any current update about it, or whether it’s even open, now.

Ha! I was going there in the 60's and it started getting a bit rough way back then. I think it was the first establishment I ever went to where they scanned you with hand-held metal detectors when you walked in. It didn't start out that way, but that's how it was around the time I moved to Memphis. I really liked the place though. I thought it was a cool idea.

Yep, and best I remember, the city revoked the first owner’s business license because some guys and a girl got to fighting in the parking lot, and ended in gunfire, with one guy and the girl getting killed.....rough joint, for sure.
