It turned out to be a real, estate sale score! I went to a sale a couple months ago and the guy selling was emptying his (deceased) brother's house so the property could be sold. I bought a TON of stuff there for pennies. He was literally GIVING stuff away just to get it out of the house. Some guy bought a box of rifle scopes (no clue what was in it, I never saw it), but he pulled this little scope out and said he didn't want the rusty piece of junk, so I grabbed it. I had no idea what it was ... it's only about 6-inches long, and I thought it was some sort of sight for survey equipment. I really didn't pay anything for it as I just threw it in one of my boxes and the guy didn't even look through it, just said something like he'd take $30 for the whole pile I had stacked up! Once I got around to researching this thing, I found out it's a pretty rare German WWII item and highly collectible. While researching, I ran across a collector in Japan. I sent him a pic and asked him if he could identify it for me. He told me what it was and after researching previous sales, I told him I was going to try selling it for $950.00! Long story short, he offered to buy it from me to add to his collection. Cool, no eBay or PayPal fees to pay, just a straight, simple sale!

Man-o-man ... not bad for a rusty little piece of crap ... a freebie even!
