In a way watching how Bill coped with the stresses induced from internet forums was one of the things that convinced me that I was right to not take up Facebook, twitter, and all the rest. I'll be honest, I think bucky actually came to the conclusion that it was unhealthy for him to continue on and.... I am probably in the same boat on some platforms.
I used to play around on 24hourcampfire a lot. But even though I continue the football pool there I haven't read a post on there for years. The net can be an unhealthy place at times. I just don't like arguing as much as I used to maybe.

I gave 24hourcampire a look but never registered there as a member. Similar to this site, there seemed to be, at the time anyway, a group of regulars who had known one another for a long time.
I am in the same boat as you, Willy. I took a sabbatical from FB for a year and it helped me to keep it in better perspective both here and on FB. I will still say what I think on FB but I won’t waste any more time trying to change anybody’s mind about anything. And to be honest, I won’t discuss much of anything serious here at GH any more. Its been pretty much like walking on eggshells on this site. Which is fine. I’m sick of arguing too.
I have learned some important things from good friends I’ve met here, maybe the most important beieng that a person’s politics have absolutely nothing to do with their character. So believe it or not, I try to exercize discretion with what I say any more!

It's a sad world we live in where we all have to be so careful with what we say so as not to offend someone. People used to be able to discuss or even argue about pretty much anything without someone getting their panties in a wad and storming off. We seem to have lost our sense of perspective - everything now is a Big Deal and if you disagree with me you must be a (add your favourite pejorative here) and not to be tolerated.
I know I'm an old fart but I miss the old days.
I don't mind arguing sometimes. Having the same arguments over and over and over is what I can't stand. Social media is being used to profoundly divide us. Some people see that, some don't. I still rise to the bait occasionally but it's trickling off with age. Life's too short for that crap.

Bucky had vehicle issues so he isn't getting into town until today, or maybe it was late last night. Either way, he and his bride will be at our place tonight at 7 PM if all goes well.
