    Fall Colors 2018

Sept. 22, lots of green, nice fall morning 48 degrees.

Sept. 29, fall temps are here, low 40's at night, hight 50's to low 60's daytime
not a lot of color change yet.

Oct. 8, slight hint of color, there are areas around that are in full color, but not here yet.

How quick things change. Same tree row, two days later.

Oct. 15, a week ago today temps here were 80 degrees, Tues, 78, and Wed. 74. Today it's 38 w/ snow squalls. 5 minutes after I took this picture it was hard to see through the snow. Awww, the fun living here in the North.
Tonight more of the same plus 35 mph winds, not sure how long the color will last in these conditions.

Oct. 20, Cold and wet all week, we've had early lake effect snow this month. It started about two weeks ago, you can see it here. Temps in the 30's. Wind has been hard on the color, don't know if we'll see it peak before it's all gone. YOu can see the change in just 4 weeks if you look at the first picture taken Sept. 22

It's about over, you can see what happens over 5 1/2 weeks up here. We've had snow and strong winds, so the color didn't last very long, although it was about 2 weeks late this year. Next picture could be just a black and white version of this one.

Well here is the black & white I promised, Week from today I should be sitting in the deer woods, this AM would have been a perfect opening morning.
Snow and low 30's w/ light wind,

I don't know how long JB has been doing this but in Arkansas those trees would have been cut, replanted and cut again. When it gets as big around as one of those fence posts, loggers are bidding on it

We’ve been about ten degrees warmer than that on both ends the past few days. We’re seeing a tinge of color on the early changers like ash and maple.

    Nice!

We drove to the St Louis area on Friday and came back today. We could see a difference in the colors as we drove through the Ozarks just in those few days.

Love that touch of color. About the only color I’m seeing is in the dogwoods.

Thanks jb, I always look forward to your yearly autumn colors post.

I must admit that I am very surprised at the progress up in your Michigan photos though. We are about the same as you folks it looks like and this is a very late change for us. Are you folks running late as well. I would guess that you usually change and drop leaves far sooner than we do in WV.

Much better color than we're getting this year!

Little drab around my place as well Len. OK but nothing spectacular for two years in a row now.

We’re in the midst of the peak of the best fall colors we’ve had in a long, long time. I couldn’t say why because I don’t know but it was a mild summer. Even the redbuds are a beautiful yellow right now and they are usually finito by now.
