Passed him up for my grandson.....

I let him walk because grandson was coming, but it was really hard to do .....biggest deer ever taken on my farm.....10 point---20 inch inside spread---weighed 285 pounds....yep, he was chasing a doe.

Holey moley. That's the biggest deer taken on many a farm. Wow.

If I’d have had a shot at that bad boy, I’d have made the grandson find his own!

Thump, you are SOOOO right....two days prior, I had my encounter with this brute at the same deer stand that my grandson killed him.....I had knocked off the safety, and waited for him to turn broad-side at about 75 yards.....it took him about 3 minutes to finally turn.....but, during that time, my conscience kicked in about my grandson coming, and I knew how excited he'd be, if he could take this deer himself.....I clicked the safety back on, and just watched him chase a doe for the next 15 minutes.....he was drooling out of his mouth, with his tongue hanging out, from the chase, but she never relented.

This boy has killed a LOT of deer, with both bow and gun, and isn't the type kid to really get too excited, but this one had him shaking and stuttering wildly, when he called me on his cell phone to come to him.

And, Tpost, a small correction from my grandson, who is right here beside me, looking over my shoulder.....he was 285 lbs.

We have had two straight years of perfect row crop seasons down here, so the benefits have trickled down to the wildlife, as well.....there are some HUGE deer, being reported all across Mississippi, this year.

Congrats to the young man. 285 with that headgear would most certainly be a lifetime buck for 99% of the hunters I know. And he’s got a lifetime to best it!

That’s an amazing deer. I’ll bet when you get his jacket off he’ll bewhite with fat.

You are so right.....already unzipped his jacket, and nothing but pure white fat from his butt to his neck, at least an 1" thick....even the inside organ fat was unbelievably thick.
