Has anyone ever used one of these? Supposedly easily removes hooks from gut hooked fish.

I think I’ve seen professional fisherman use these on TV, and from what I remember, they seemed to work.

I’ve used them for years on our striper boat.
They work well enough but it’s not as easy as it looks
Depending on hook style there is a certain place in the bend you have to put it.
Once you learn the spot it’s handy and I’m sure it saves a lot of fish.
I just find it easier to cut the line and let the hook rust out in a few days.

^^^that’s what I do Larke. I’ve caught fish that we have caught before and released and still had a hook in their gullet. The old hook usually comes out pretty easy in those cases.
I wonder if it works better than other methods when you hook yourself.

I would not want to try that. It takes a lot of pressure to spin that hook around with that thing and the hook still having a barb on it that would hurt.
I’d rather push the hook on threw if possible and cut the barb off and pull it out.
Been there and done that.

Yep. Me too. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for an easier way! And by easier I mean less painful!
