Yeah, I really should snag an empty and keep it stored in the freezer, but I just never think about it until I need one. I do got's a few I could put into service, but they're vintage and worth a nice chunk of change on eBay, so I'll leave 'em alone.

Here's the same case (WITHOUT) the bottles that just sold for $51 on eBay ... I'm still figurin' a price for the case with all the (matching vintage) bottles.

Ha, yep, they like to corn-hole, too.

(sorry, but down south, there's just something about saying that word that brings to mind a peter-puffer.)

One of my favorites! I’ve always called them a ‘lunchbox’, why I don’t know. Prolly cause if you don’t have time for lunch it’ll stick to your ribs and tide you over till supper. Its a staple for me when Birddog and I go fishing. I’ve upsized to 16 oz Cokes and two bags of peanuts though! An old fat man will have a little bigger lunchbox! I do get Diet Cokes though to offset.

Ha.....one of the quickest ways to get an azz-whooping down here would be to walk into one of our country-boy bars, and yell out, "Anybody wanna corn hole???"

I’ve learned not to guffaw too loud when somebody brings that game up. I guess they play that shit because the ground’s frozen too damn hard to hammer a good christian horseshoe stake in.

    I wonder if there’s a rule against a reach-around with that game?

    Ummmm, Yankee rednecks?

    The Modern History of Cornhole

The modern game of cornhole was probably spread after an article on how to make the boards was published in Popular Mechanics magazine in September 1974. The game was initially a huge hit in Chicago, Illinois, and the Northwest region of Indiana from the late 1970s to the early 1980s.

Cincinnati is also where the game is known to have picked up and that’s where the modern resurgence of the game kicked off. So Cincinnati might not have created cornhole but they might be the place most responsible for its popularity today.

Eventually the popularity of the sport exploded across the US and its presence became popular at tailgate events throughout the Midwest and all across the US. In 2011 the New York Times even wrote that the game was ‘’sweeping the Northeast.’’

Yessir, supposedly they really don't know for sure, and the game changed through the years, so the "documented" history of the "modern" game is what I posted. If ya' want to go WAAAY back, some of it is just guessing.

From the net: Some say it was invented in 14th century Germany. Others credit the Blackhawk tribe of Illinois. Still others point to a Kentucky farmer in the 1800s.

(I'd still rather pin it on those corn-holin' Yankees.)

I'd lean toward the Midwest since the bags are filled with corn. If'n it'd been in the South, they would'a been beanbags and we'd be beanholin'!!

I understand everything that all of you are saying about the game.....it's not the game that is repulsive, it's the name given to the day'um game....."corn toss" is perfect, and doesn't offend anyone.....okay, call me old-fashioned, but don't ever call me a "corn holer".....or, I'll get Cappy to find out where ya live, and I'll come visit ya, with a horse head

Btw, the "American Cornholers Assn." allows plastic pellets to be used inside the bags, in lieu of seed corn.....soooo, in that case, wouldn't the name of the game need to be changed to "Plastic Pellet Hole". ???

Speaking of lawn games. Another one that can be addicting is hillbilly golf. Balls tied together like the old clackers and you throw it at a stand with three rungs each with worth a different number of points.

Called Cowboy Golf up here Posthole.

What about "Washers" anybody play that?

Similar to Cornhole in that there are two board but for Washers you throw big-ass washers towards the opposite board while standing on the dead-space portion of the board on your side. The other difference is that there are three holes in a line with each hole worth a different amount. One point for the closest, two for the middle, and three for the one furthest back on the board.
