OK, it's now getting serious !!!!

I try to get out of the house at least once a day, if nothing more than a short trip past the bay and through town, maybe half an hour, or I'll go out for lunch and eat while doing my short trip.
Today I went through Wendy's drive- through, ordered my typical single with cheese, lady came back and said we are out of hamburger, and will give you the deluxe chicken for the same price. I pull up to the window and ask how long have they been without burger, she said since yesterday and that was for all 4 locations we have in town.
So when are you going to get more, she said, maybe tomorrow.
Now " shelter in place" and do't order any hamburgers, this chit just get worse every day.
The older I get, the better I was. I also forget my password and have to have Len reset it for me

I had the same problem last night except it was at KFC. I went through the drive through to get a bucket of chicken for dinner. We had been working in the yard and it had gotten late enough we didn’t want to cook.

I go to place my order and am told that they don’t have any on the bone chicken and that it would be 45 minutes until more was done. I told the guy I would be back and then he tells me that they close in half an hour.

    Bite me Sunny!

Deppity, that reminds me of a trip to MacDonald's many years ago. We seldom eat there, but do occasionally. I remember one Saturday morning, Lynn was craving one of their breakfast sandwiches for some odd reason, so I drove over to our local MacD's to grab breakfast. I honestly didn't have much experience with MacD's as we very seldom go there, but this day, I received a real lesson in Customer Service!

I pulled into the drive-thru and placed our order, then was told to pull ahead to the pay window. I paid for the order and was told to proceed to the pick-up window. I pulled up and a very young looking teen-aged girl came to the window. She said, "I'm sorry sir, but our breakfast has ended and we are now serving the lunch menu."

WTF? I looked at my cell phone and it was EXACTLY 11:30 am (or whatever time their cut-off time was for breakfast ... I don't remember), so it was obvious that when I actually PLACED the order, it was during their breakfast hours, but once I arrived at the pick-up window, it was the start of their lunch menu hours. At first I thought she was messing with me, but I soon realized she was dead serious! I was so dumbfounded by the stupidity of the situation, I asked is she might have any left-overs of those breakfast items? She said she'd check, and left the window. She returned and said "Yes, as a matter of fact they do!" I said that was great and sat there for a few seconds before I realized she was still standing there looking at me with a clueless look on her face. I finally asked if there might be a chance I could have those "left-overs". She said she'd find out and again left the window. A couple minutes later, she returned and informed me that would be fine. I smiled and waited ... then realized she was still standing at the window. I asked if there was a problem and she then asked if I wanted those left-over sandwiches!!! By this time I thought I was dealing with the most brainless hunk of flesh on earth! I remained polite and told her it would be fine and I had NO PROBLEM taking those "left-over" sandwiches! She left the window again and shortly returned with my original order! I thanked her and left.

I've often repeated that story (even here right after it happened ... but as I said, it was MANY years ago ... probably on our original site). Other than today, I again thought of that story recently when the big issue of paying fast-food workers a minimum wage of $15.00 made the news. Sure, she was young and it was obviously her first day on the job (I assume!?), but why she was working that window by herself on a Saturday morning, baffles me to this day! I don't think I've ever worked with that much idiocy in my life! Well, come to think of it, yes, I have, but that's another story (or two ... or three stories actually, both involving MY own employees, unfortunately!).

All o’youse can bite me now! We’re on the way home from Sam’s Club right now. We just bought a large pack of 90/10 hamburger. They also had 80/20, but we didn’t check Wendy’s.

Why would anybody want to eat at Wendy’s to begin with ? They don’t even do milkshakes. The King is where it’s at with those flame broiled patties. And you can get a shake there

No sleeves A/B ... just normal flat packs. I think ours was 5-6 lbs.

As for national burger chains, it's Burger King for me (can't beat that charbroiled flavor imho), but Lynn prefers Whataburger.

BUT .... if you ever get to California and hit In-N-Out, you'll throw rocks at any other chain burger joint!

‘Deep fried in pur lard’ caught my eye.

The local joints are the best around here too. There is a place in midtown Tulsa that has like six stools at the bar and a walk up cash register and they sling gazillions of greasy burgers and fries out of there and people love them.

Man, I would love a really good burger! Just not to be found in this neck of the woods. Hockey pucks on a bun! Blech. I do love In-N-out.

There's a place in Memphis where I used to eat DEEP FRIED burgers as a high school kid. It was just a crappy little shack then, but they've moved a few times and are now on Beale Street. They opened the place in 1912 and it's still going strong ... BUT ... one of their main selling points (???) is the fact they're still using the same grease to fry the burgers in, that they used when they opened the place 108 years ago! They filter it every night and it's kept in a special vault until they reopen. Whenever they changed restaurant locations over the years, the grease was transported by armed, police escort. Lynn and I went and had a couple burgers a few years back. It seemed like a great burger when I was a kid, but now that my palate has matured a bit, they're just good, but not exceptional imho. The fun is in the hype. I seriously doubt much (if any) of the original grease exists, as some gets discarded as the oil from the meat builds up, but the whole batch has never been thrown out. (true story) Oh, and if you ever go, don't EVEN try to order your burger with tomato and/or lettuce! They'll throw you out and tell you to go on down the street and find your salad bar someplace else!
