    Spring is in the air

At least here in Oklahoma it is. Sure, we've got a couple more months of cold weather but the last few years I've been noticing (me being the noticer I am) that spring actually starts a lot sooner than most of us realize. Was just watching three doves arguing over a female on the back fence. Croci are coming up in the beds, and it sounds like a symphony outside right now with all the songbirds that are around.
Or maybe then again, maybe I'm just pushing it.

This is the time that Southern Boys have a one-up on our fine Nawthen Brethren. Winter here has become a five week event. One of those weeks is partially in November somewhere, but it's only about 3 days worth. The other 4 days are the first week of December, then it gets hot and we have Tornadoes. The 2nd week is usually right after Christmas, give or take. The 3rd week is late January. The 4th week is sometime in February, but it feels worse because it was preceded by temps in the 60's. The 5th week is a rogue week. It can occur anywhere, and throws us all off, and makes us cuss winter. It can be in October, or it can be in March, or it can be a few days at a time all over.

All the times in between all that, it's Daffodil Time.

They're slaying crappie all over right now. I'm trying to get caught up to go. I spent a week hog hunting when the temps were 60's +. Temps are so nice that it spoils you, makes it feel cold if it isn't above 60.....

I was in Miami for a few days last week. It was nice to sit out by the pool and drink cocktail in my shirt sleeves at night, but it ain't natural.

Oh, winter isn't over for us by a long shot. We have snow in our forecast for tonight and I expect we'll get our usual late March snow storm and then another biting cold snap in blackberry winter in early May. Its as right as the mail in these parts. I'm just enjoying seeing the signs of spring already! gonna need to fish, and soon!
