A pretty profound quote...

I heard a pretty profound quote today, and I don't think the guy even realized what he'd said. It really hit home with me, and I even stopped and took the time to write it down.

“We all influence and inspire people in ways that we’ll never know.”

My wife and I were discussing the other day that God gave me cancer for a reason, and one of those reasons may have been to "inspire" others. I have been told by several of my colleagues at my old office how "inspired" they are at my positive mental attitude and always keeping my sense of humor throughout all the treatments. Di has had her work-mates and even folks that she hardly knows come up to her and tell her what an "inspiration" she and I are to them. And even some of you hard-nosed dufes have stated that you are "inspired" by the way that I have held my head up and taken the whole ordeal in-stride "one day at a time".

And whom, you might ask was it that said this?

It was Rush Limbaugh today, just seconds before the end of his show.

Well, Niner, you have made a difference probably in someone you may not have realized was affected by you. That's a pretty good deal too, whenyou think about it. The thing to realize that you might not, is how many you affected before you got sick. Its not likeyou weren't a person of character then too. Its just magnified now. You got steel in ya man.

Not sure about that steel in you comment, though. I think he may have been making fun of the hardware in your back. I'd keep an eye on that Okie if I were you.

Bill, some of us have stuff going on that others don't know about. Sometimes it's more than hard just to wake up.

You? Well, you sort of take our silly stuff and make it..........silly. You laugh at your devils, and so we have to at least smile at our demons. Testosterone makes men compete. We post our BIG kills on here, our BIG catches, and even our BIG foibles. But we can't compete with you, dude. You're the King. You looked death in the face and told it "BITE ME".

How can you not be our inspiration?

Me? I never figure I inspire anyone. In fact, I figure just the opposite. I've run off more folks here than I've inspired.

But I have gotten emails lately that said "Hey! I admire you for not letting your detractors beat you totally down. You don't give up, and I'd have given up long ago". So I trudge on. But man, I got nothin' on you. I wish I had a little of what you got.

I went to a stupid leadership class once at a renowned executive training school... I've never heard so many quotes that I wanted to save and write down before. One that still sticks in my head is "Think about changing the conversations around you when you're not in the room"

I can't tell you how many people I started a conversation with like this "I have a good friend in Georgia..."

About your original quote, god forbid I go back on topic, I have a love/hate thing for Limbaugh. He is extraordinarily intelligent. It's the crap he says to garner attention that puts me off my feed.

That IS a great quote, regardless of who done said it.
