Yep, and I'd have that hot sauce all over those black eyed peas also (but you can keep those raw onions). Dang, that makes me hongry for lunch ... and I haven't even had breakfast yet.

Thumps noticing skills must be slipping when he can't tell the difference between a purple hull and a black eye (is that racist) pea

Blah, blah, blah. Black eyed peas or pink eyed peas ... I'd slather the hot sauce on either of them!

I’m an onion lover but having an onion snuggled up against a slice of muskmelon is a ‘Thou shalt not’ on my plate.

I've got a friend that puts mayo on his peas, now I like mayo but there are some things that just aren't natural. I can go for a little green tomato relish or spicy chow chow on my peas but mayo........I don't think I'll go there

My sister makes some of the best spicy chow chow on the planet. Great on beans of any kind. IT’ll light you up too.

Green tomatoes don't last long enough around my house to make chow chow. My wife fries them up long before they get near a canning jar

    The only tomato

My grandmother would always make them just after the tomatoes had started to turn just a skoosh and fry them in bacon fat. Not red, but just a little pink.

Probably be in trouble for saying it but I've tried fried green termaters a buncha times and really don't care for them. I do like a thick slice of red, ripe tomato as part of a big breakfast fryup however. Different strokes for different folks.

Beans fer sure, fried in bacon grease, toast on the side please, eggs over easy, bacon, sausage and fried black pudding, fried spuds and maybe a few fried shrooms along with the fried mater. That will set you up for a morning fishing trip.

Almost forgot - wash it all down with a big mug of strong tea, Tetley, one sugar, no milk.

Now that’s a hearty man breakfast! Can’t do the black pudding though, if that’s blood pudding.

Green tomatoes pickled is also a pretty awesome relish if you have an abundance of them. My stuff got in late and then we had like 14 days of sunshine in May so all I have is blooms right now.
