    How does this happen?

Not earthshattering, but curious. I made two posts this morning ("Well Duh" and Vampires). After the "Duh" post, I hit the submit thread button and it showed 1 view, normal as far as I know. A bit later, I wrote the "Vampires" post and when I hit the submit button, it immediately showed 4 views. WTF? Anybody know how that's possible?

You're using 30 year old software written in code that everyone capable of understanding has retired or died.

The version we're running, 4.2.3, was released in 2015 and is end of life for support.

There are numerous exploits out in the wild for that version. It's really only a matter of time before someone lays waste to the site.

The last stable release was last year in October "Stable release 5.6.4 (October 15, 2020)"

And no, I have no idea how to upgrade it. Not sure if we could pay someone or not?
If we all threw our problems in a pile, and you saw everyone else's problems-- you'd take yours back.

Well, if the view count is our only problem, I can live with it.
