As it turns out, we are planning on spending NYE in Nashville. I’m going to have to look into tickets for the Purdue/Tennessee game and get into town a day early.

Man, I wish NC State wasn’t playing on the left coast. Other than maybe Vegas, there’s no way I’d get in a plant that time of year tk go see them play.

I see that Purdue basketball plays NC State Sunday afternoon.

How do they look this year? Honestly, I don’t follow much outside of the B1G.

Middle of the “pack” in the ACC probably this year. Perdue should be favored. But, anything could happen.

We did that trip in 2019 NYE. Was the last thing we were able to do before covid. It was a great time! Is there a show you’re you’re there to see?

No shows on the agenda. We are actually going to Siesta Key for a few days right after Christmas with some friends, then we have reservations for NYE at Opryland.

Tough loss last night for your Boilermakers last night DD. It sure was an exciting finish for those of us with no dog in the fight.

Yeah, the Big Ten is always a dog fight. Having been a Purdue fan for soooo long, you get to where you expect things like that to happen, especially during March Madness.

Lots of people, especially IU fans, claim that Purdue fans have a persecution complex but Purdue always seems to get the shaft. Purdue has a pretty good football season, beat two teams that were top 5 at the time, make it to a decent bowl game, and what happens, they get paired with Tennessee in Nashville. Wouldn’t it have been easier to just let the Vols play in Knoxville?

My Wolfpack aren’t going to be able to sneak up on Perdue on Sunday now.

I looked into tickets for the bowl game since I am going to be in Nashville over New Year’s. They are a little more than I want to spend. I was reading on a site that once Tennessee got announced for the game, the prices jump over $30/ticket.

I think you’ll find those prices go down the closer to game day it gets.

DD we went to Nashville specifically to see Old Crow Medicine Show on NYE at the Ryman. Not sure if there’s still tickets but its a helluva fun time. If you like Americana music I guess which we do.

That #15 for Perdue would give Andre the Giant a run for his money.

He’s from Canada and he’s sometimes referred to as “the big maple”. He’s 7’4”.

Purdue has been so flat the past three games. They would be in a three game losing streak if Iowa and NC State had all of their players.

CD, the Pack deserved the win today. It’s a shame they went cold in the OT after having the lead the entire day.

I watched most of the game and felt like Purdue had the better athletes and just didn’t play well until the final 3-4 minutes of regulation.

Back to football…..bowl games in particular……the Sooners have so many players opting out of the bowl game that the team won’t be competitive.

How much of it is the typical I’m turning pro and want to focus on that vs. the transfer portal which is way worse due to the Coach leaving?

It seems to me that it has really became more prevalent the last couple of years. I think it is mostly due to the “I’m going pro” mentality and the fear of getting hurt and doing something to risk the big payday.

Add to that the massive number of bowl games, most of which are meaningless outside of the playoff games.

I'm with you here Posty, I'm sick of hearing I don't want to take a chance on getting hurt when there's millions on the line, or I want to get healthy so I can show case my talent at the combine. How about showcasing your loyalty to your team mates because you're not on an island bub. Our soldiers and police officers still preform their duty right up to the end and it's their lives in the field of fire

As far as coaches bailing out, I'm ready for a school to sue for breach of contract. I know it won't happen but I can always dream.

BTW, without Burkes, Penn st will take a wire brush to arkansas . I may not even watch it

    I'm beyond pissed

Most of who we’ve lost has been due ro players hoping to make it into the pros. The Sooners have lost six since Riley left. Of those, the only Five were pretty active players even if they weren’t starters. So it has hurt, but the ones I’m talking about are juniors and seniors who are turning pro.

I guess maybe they figure if the coach doesn’t give AF why should they?

That could be it, but in most cases I think its because A: it isn’t a bowl game that gives them a lot of national exposure and 2:they might hurt themselves and cost them a chance at big money.
I can see it both ways from a risk management standpoint. That is, if you’re such a chickenshit you’d choose a chance at money over teammates you’ve been pledging yourself to and they to you for years.
Selfishness isn’t always bad though. We all have to decide those kinds of things now and then.
