    Ha ha ha!! Really???

Lynn and I are sitting in a nice Italian restaurant in Tampa and awaiting our lunch to be served. I’m on the restaurant’s WiFi and have been checking my email and Facebook, etc, with no problem. Then I decided to check in here. This is what came up.

TBH, I didn’t think to check the other forums. Our food came out and that took immediate priority.

But, I went the direct route to the Campfire Chat forum (see the URL in their message) and it wouldn’t let me in.

I didn’t try sneaking in the back door, so I’m not sure how all of that works when they block the site. Interesting though. It seems like getting new members here has all sorts of possible hurdles.

Its always came down to weighing risk/reward. I read once in a while over at 24hrcampfire, which is close to our site in age. they seem to have a pretty good balance of regulars and newbies. Notsure how many new members they get but I’m sure like this site used to have, there’s lots of readers/lurkers. The other thing they have is moderators willing to donate time. I don’t think any of us old regulars have the time/energy to take on the bullshit that goes along with it. I mean, think of it, our sysop is a PUmphEaD.

Maybe we should just open stuff up and see what transpires.

Ha! Being the pUmpHeAd that I am, I wouldn’t have a clue how to “open it up” anydamnway!

A couple months ago, just for shits and grins, I clicked on the link at the head of this site that says if I can’t register, click on this link. Ha! I have no clue where that link leads (Co9 maybe?), but I’ve yet to get a response.

Yep, we definitely have a lack of technical oversight. If this joint ever crashes, we’re fubar. Maybe we could drag Ticboy away from Facebook long enough to give us a hand, but who knows?
