Hulk Hogan was baptized this week. "Total surrender and dedication to God is the greatest day of my life," the 70-year-old posted to Instagram, along with footage of the baptism. "No worries, no hate, no judgment... only love!"

I met HH years ago at the Tampa airport. I was there to pick up a friend who’s flight had been delayed. I’d taken a seat at the end of the check-in desk to stay out of everyone’s way as I had a pretty long wait ahead of me. As I was waiting, there was some commotion at the gate area. I looked up and it was Hulk Hogan with a shitload of people swarming around him, bugging him for pics and autographs.

After the commotion died down, he walked over to the desk and snagged one of the agent’s chairs (he asked), then sat behind the check-in desk and divider wall (the wall thingy with flight info, etc). He was basically sitting next to me and said he has no problem with fans, but sometimes just needs a break to relax, especially when about to board a flight.

I laughed and told him I’d handle anyone who tried to mess with him! Anyway, it turned out he was there to catch the same plane my friend would be disembarking from, so we had a bit of a wait. I’m not really a wrestling fan, but I was highly impressed with the guy. He was extremely polite and we chatted enough for me to realize he was a REALLY nice dude and I enjoyed our conversation. The odd thing is, the whole time we were there, nobody ever approached him. (Probably couldn’t get a good look at him behind the board)

Oh, and no, I never asked him for an autograph OR a pic. Heck, it was before cell phone cameras and I didn’t make a habit of carrying a camera with me anyway. When my friend’s plane landed, I shook his hand and told him to have a nice flight. He then thanked me for “blocking” for him.

    Happy for The Hulkster.
