The best ever is retiring. Better even than the Bear.

My money is on that young Washington coach (just in the name of history) or Dabo.

Dabo has a huge buyout but Bama could afford it if they want it. He doesn't like the transfer portal and if you're gonna win in these times you have to use it

Sark would be a good choice but Texas has some deep pockets if they want to keep him

Dan Lanning of Oregon would be the best fit in my opinion. Plenty of moxie and SEC experience

Kiffin is a long shot I would think, lack of sustainability and stability. Plus he's got plenty of baggage

DeBoer of Washington is another possibility but also a long shot with no ties to either Saban or the SEC.

Mike Norvell might get a look but not a serious one.

I think they'll go hard for Lanning and if they strike out there look for a surprise hire

I sure hope they don't try to hire Sam Pittman away from us.

I just saw something about Butch Jones but not sure if it was a gag.

I’ve saw Franklin at PSU and the guy at Notre Dame mentioned today. I know how you guys feel about Franklin so that could be interesting. Lane Kiffin is one of the few coaches I find even less likable than Saban so him going to Bama would match made in heaven for me.

Recruiting is almost as important as coaching these days and I look for Bama to go with a coach with a big time recruiting record. Kiffin would fit that. It also stands to reason that Saban would have input, if not downright naming rights for his successor. Do y’all think they’d poach existing SEC coaches though? Maybe Saban will pick Coach Prime!

That’d be truest of true justice for the Bama fans I know, IMHO.

Well, Bama has their man. I really doubt that he can sustain the success that Saban did especially since the SEC just got tougher with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma. I just wonder how the psycho fringe will respond to a couple of 10-2 seasons. He's gonna have some big shoes to fill for certain sure.

How about you Hank, is the Bama hate still as strong now that the Great Satan is gone, or will you be sitting in front of the telly shouting "Roll Tide" this fall?

I like the hire as the guy has won big at every level. I’m sick of the Bama fans though. (Entire SEC, TBH.). So, I’ll be rooting for a comeuppance. I think he’ll do well. But, as you said, will it be well enough for the fans?

It seems almost like modern day fandom means, for the most part, hating on their teams and coaches. I do my share of criticizing decisions but the majority of what I see from fans these days is brown wind, if you get my drift.

I see that after almost every Purdue basketball game especially a loss. The internet is filled with people saying that Matt Painter should be fired, he can’t coach, make adjustments, etc., but yet this current team is ranked #1 for the third year in a row (and is the only Big Ten team to ever do that), doesn’t lose a lot of players in the portal, and his players graduate and stay out of trouble. The complaint is their record in March but it’s not like any other team from the conference is winning nattys either.

The sports team that has the most loyal fan base I have ever seen is the Kansas City Royals. And this despite having hopes raised and hearts broken for more years than I can count.

I’d throw the Detroit fan base in that conversation too. With the lack of success both the Lions and Tigers have had in recent years they still are passionate and have really good attendance.
