Dang dude! It’s late here, west coast time. Are you up late, or early? 3:30 am your time!

Early. Dogs needed out and I couldn't get back to sleep for a while.

That never used to be a problem. May be a symptom of getting old. 😊

That was me for a bazillion years. Then the VA sent me in for a sleep study. They wired me up and I was to spend the night while they gathered data. The doctor would review the data the next day and call with the results. I fell asleep and about 20-30 mins later the tech woke me up. He said, “Dude! You have it BAD”! “If you want, you can go home now instead of spending the night … we have PLENTY of data already.”

Bottom line, they issued me a CPAP and I’ve slept like a baby ever since. I don’t sleep MORE, but the sleep I get is quality sleep.

We don’t need no stinking sleep.

Have a sleep study done. They’re tons of fun. I thought the technician was a total nutbag when he finished wiring me up, then told me to lie down and go to sleep!

(They don’t all show, but every wire coming out of that junction box was hooked up to me)

I think things have changed a bit since the. Thump. I had one in 2019 and it was a take home deal.

Yep, the home tests are available, but have their shortcomings. I was in the sleep lab at the VA and it looked like a NASA control center. Here’s a little blurb on the differences.

“Home sleep apnea tests are generally less accurate than lab studies. Home tests only measure breathing, not sleep, so results can be inconclusive or falsely negative. For example, patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) often breathe through their mouths, which may lead to inaccurate signals. Additionally, you don't have support from lab staff to troubleshoot potential problems.”
